Qatar has officially announced the Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday schedule, providing clarity for both public and private sector employees as the festive season approaches. The announcement, issued by the Amiri Diwan, confirms a week-long holiday for government entities, while private sector workers will receive a shorter break.
Eid Al Fitr 2026 Holiday Announced in Qatar From 17 to 24 March 2026
According to the official directive, Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday in Qatar for government offices will begin on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and continue through Monday, March 23, 2026. Employees will resume duties on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Public Sector Employees to Get Week-Long Eid Holidays
The holiday applies to all ministries, government agencies, and public institutions, including health bodies, municipal services, and regulatory offices. Educational authorities and administrative departments will also suspend regular operations, allowing public sector employees to spend the religious festival with their families, participate in cultural events, and attend community gatherings.
Private Sector Employees to Receive Paid Holidays
The Ministry of Labor in Qatar has confirmed that private sector employees will receive a three-day paid Eid holiday, in compliance with the Labor Law. Employees required to work during this period will be compensated according to overtime provisions.
Many private firms, however, often choose to align their holiday schedules with government offices, offering around five days off for smoother operations and to match public sector closures. Financial institutions and banks will follow schedules determined by the Qatar Central Bank, which will announce dates after confirming the moon sighting.
Schools Holidays During Eid 2026 in Qatar
Schools in Qatar generally follow public sector holiday schedules, meaning most students are expected to enjoy a week-long break from lessons during Eid. With Qatar's weekend falling on Friday and Saturday, government employees effectively get a continuous holiday from Monday, March 17, 2026, to Sunday, March 22, 2026, allowing extra time for family travel, domestic tourism and rest following the month of Ramadan.
Qatar Eid 2026 Moon-Sighting and Date
Eid Al Fitr 2026 in Qatar is expected to fall on Friday, March 20, 2026, corresponding to 1 Shawwal 1447 in the Islamic Hijri calendar. The exact date will depend on the crescent moon sighting, which marks the end of Ramadan. Authorities will confirm the festival day once the moon is verified.
