Kothari claims they defrauded him of over ₹60 crore through a loan-cum-investment deal linked to their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. He alleges the funds intended for business growth were misused for personal expenses.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is investigating the case. However, Prashant Patil, the couple's lawyer, has dismissed the allegations as 'baseless.' He stated that the matter had already been resolved by the NCLT Mumbai on October 4, 2024. "My clients deny all the allegations," he said in a statement reported by the Times of India.
