A powerful explosion at a godown in Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, killed four people and injured two during suspected nitrogen refilling, officials said. A preliminary Forensic Science Laboratory report points to a pressure blast from a ruptured stainless-steel tank. Emergency teams responded, residents were evacuated, and an inquiry is underway.
A powerful blast inside a godown in Silvassa killed at least four people on Saturday morning, officials said. Two others were hurt and received hospital care. The incident happened in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Authorities said emergency teams reached quickly and moved local residents to safer places as a precaution.

Officials said the explosion took place at around 9 am at M/s S K Enterprise. The blast happened while gas, suspected to be nitrogen, was being refilled. A total of six persons were injured in the incident. The Union Territory administration said the situation was later brought under control.

Teams from Fire and Emergency Services, Police, and 108 ambulance services were sent to the site, officials said. Nearby residents were shifted away from the area as a safety step. Authorities said conditions at the location were stable after the response. Work at the site continued under official supervision.

Officials said an inquiry committee was formed to examine the cause of the blast. The district administration also created an inspection committee for wider checks. The checks cover industrial units handling hazardous chemicals and gases. The focus includes units operating without required permissions, the release said.
