The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has unanimously dismissed the National Policy Framework for Agricultural Marketing (NPFAM), labelling it a revival of the three controversial farm laws. They plan to initiate pakka morchas, or permanent protests, in all state capitals to oppose this policy. This decision was made during a general body meeting at HKS Surjeet Bhawan, attended by 165 delegates from 73 farmer organisations across 12 states.

The SKM described the new policy as a blatant attack on government mandis, designed to benefit multinational corporations and large businesses. They firmly rejected the Central Government's NPFAM, viewing it as an attempt to reintroduce the previously repealed farm laws through state governments. According to SKM, this policy is detrimental to both farmers and state governments.
Protests and Political Engagement
Starting from March 5, SKM will organise pakka morchas in every state as part of their ongoing protest movement. Leaders from SKM intend to meet with respective Chief Ministers, urging them to pass resolutions in state assemblies to reject the NPFAM. They also demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi withdraw the policy. If any state government refuses to comply, farmers will begin protests in those state capitals and at district and sub-division levels.
In addition to these protests, SKM plans to hold Mahapanchayats and conventions as part of their strategy. State Coordination Committees will handle the logistics of these events. The umbrella organisation of farmers will also gather outside MPs' offices and residences on February 8 and 9. They aim to persuade MPs to support farmers by rejecting the NPFAM.
Labour Codes Condemnation
The general body of SKM also criticised the recent efforts by the NDA government to implement four labour codes. These codes have been a point of contention among various groups who believe they undermine workers' rights. The SKM's opposition highlights their broader concerns about policies perceived as unfavourable to workers and farmers alike.
The SKM remains committed to its cause, rallying support from different quarters to challenge policies they see as harmful. Their actions reflect a continued effort to safeguard farmers' interests against what they view as corporate-friendly measures.
