Maharashtra Scooters Ltd. was incorporated in 1975 and started to manufacture the Priya brand of motorized geared scooters. Subsequently, the company started to manufacture Bajaj Super / Bajaj Chetak models of scooters. However, later it took a gradual shift in consumer preferences from geared scooters to motorcycles and discontinued production of geared scooters.
