SpaceX Q3 Results: Elon Musk's Company Posts $4.4 Billion Profit, Revenue Jumps 161%; AI Business Leads Growth
Elon Musk-led SpaceX reported a sharp turnaround in its financial performance for the July-September quarter, posting a net profit of $4.4 billion as revenue surged 161% year-on-year to $14.58 billion. The company's strong performance was driven by a rapid expansion of its artificial intelligence (AI) business and continued growth in its Starlink satellite internet operations, helping it exceed market expectations.
SpaceX Share Price Today After Q3 Results Announcement

SpaceX Q3 Profit Driven By AI Business
SpaceX's Super Intelligence business emerged as the largest revenue contributor during the September quarter, generating $7.56 billion. Revenue from the segment rose nearly tenfold year-on-year, supported by demand for AI computing capacity, cloud services agreements and the expansion of the company's AI models and software applications.
A substantial portion of this business involves providing computing infrastructure to technology companies and AI developers, including Anthropic, Alphabet's Google and Reflection AI. The performance highlights SpaceX's expanding role in the AI infrastructure market, alongside its established launch services and satellite connectivity operations.
The company's adjusted EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, rose to $8.81 billion, compared with approximately $2.2 billion a year earlier. The figure also exceeded market expectations of around $6.6 billion, indicating stronger operating performance as revenue expanded across its businesses.
Starlink Revenue And Subscriber Growth
SpaceX's Connectivity segment, which includes Starlink, generated $5.25 billion in revenue during the third quarter. The segment benefited from growth in consumer subscriptions as well as stronger enterprise and government demand for satellite-based connectivity services.
Starlink's consumer subscriber base increased to 13.6 million, up from 12 million in the previous quarter. However, subscriber additions remain an important metric for investors assessing whether the business can sustain its growth alongside rising infrastructure costs.
The company's Space and Rockets segment contributed $1.77 billion in revenue, reflecting its launch and space-related operations. With all three segments reportedly exceeding analyst estimates, the results point to a broader contribution from SpaceX's businesses, rather than growth being confined to satellite internet or rocket launches alone.
SpaceX's Soaring AI Spending Raises Concerns Despite Starlink Subscriber Growth
Despite the strong earnings performance, SpaceX's growing investment requirements remain a key concern. Capital expenditure reached $19.59 billion in the third quarter, including $16.44 billion allocated to the Super Intelligence business. This took capital expenditure for the first nine months of the year to $48.07 billion.
Management indicated that capital expenditure could increase further to between $35 billion and $40 billion in the fourth quarter as the company expands its AI infrastructure. The spending reflects the scale of investment required to build computing capacity and meet growing demand from AI developers and businesses.
"However, the key concern remains the scale of investment required to sustain this growth....... Meanwhile, Starlink's consumer subscriber base increased to 13.6 million from 12 million in Q2, although it remained below some pre-earnings estimates of 14.2-14.3 million," said Daniel Munday, Principal Analyst, VT Markets.
"Going forward, the sustainability of AI monetisation, infrastructure spending, and Starlink's subscriber growth will be critical in determining investor sentiment." he added.
Investors will also monitor Tesla's Q3 results, ongoing SpaceX-Tesla merger discussions, the Federal Reserve meeting on October 27-28, and broader sentiment towards capital-intensive AI infrastructure investments. The central question is whether SpaceX can sustain its strong revenue and profitability growth while funding its substantial infrastructure expansion.
