Special Live Trading Session On Saturday, March 14: BSE Conducts Mock Trading In Stocks, Forex, Commodity, Why

BSE and NSE have carried special live trading sessions in the past due to special events. And March 14 is yet another Saturday, when the stock exchange BSE is open for trading in stocks, equity derivatives, commodities and forex. However, there is a catch: this special trading session today is a mock test and you will not be making real buy or sell in market-related instruments.

Stock Market Open On Saturday:

BSE scheduled a mock trading session for all its segments on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from primary site and disaster recovery site (DR).

"Trading members using third party trading platforms can also use this opportunity to test their respective trading applications during mock trading sessions for various functionalities (including exceptional market conditions), viz. various types of call auction sessions, risk-reduction mode, trading halt, block deals, etc." BSE said.

What Is Mock Trading Session?

The mock trading session is carried by BSE and NSE to test and review the functioning of the exchanges. This is a run-through of the platforms to assess system readiness and operational procedures.

A mock trading session is a simulated version of real stock market trading. It allows participants to place buy and sell orders using virtual funds instead of real money. It recreates key aspects of live trading, such as order placement, portfolio tracking, and execution flow, without involving any financial risk, as per Angel One's blog.

Will Mock Trading Session Impact Your Account Display?

The leading online broker, Zerodha, explained on its website that your holdings and position values display according to mock-trading prices. This might result in incorrect prices on the Marketwatch and potentially inaccurate positions or holdings values. However, at the end of the session, Friday's closing prices will be updated.
