SpiceJet To Bolster Fleet With 10 Narrow Body Boeing 737 Aircraft

SpiceJet has announced plans to induct 10 narrow-body Boeing 737 aircraft into its fleet starting from September 2023. This strategic move comes as part of the airline's efforts to enhance its operational capabilities, expand its route network, and meet the growing demand for air travel in the country.

In the meantime, SpiceJet is working on fixing and reviving its grounded aircraft, which will begin returning to service soon, according to a statement.

Meanwhile, the low-cost carrier has mobilised its plan to resurrect its 25 grounded aircraft, with financing coming from the government's Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) and increased cash accruals.

"We will be inducting 10 B737 aircraft between September-October. The induction of these planes, which coincides with the peak travel season in India, will help us launch new routes and strengthen our presence on existing ones," said Ajay Singh, Chairman, and Managing Director of SpiceJet.

The airline has already inked a lease arrangement for these ten planes, which will be added to the fleet in September to meet increased demand.
