Low-cost carrier SpiceJet Chairman Ajay Singh, and Busy Bee Airways Private Limited have jointly submitted a bid for GoFirst on Friday. The bid is a strategic move that has the potential to reshape the landscape of the Indian aviation sector and position SpiceJet for substantial growth in the industry.
Shares of Spicejet surged 11.28% to Rs 70.81 on the BSE.

On the NSE, stock rose 11.30% to Rs 70.86.
The traded volume of the stocks during the intraday trade was 1.69 crore on the BSE and 2.48 crore on the NSE.
Ajay Singh, alongside Busy Bee Airways Private Limited, has submitted the bid in his personal capacity.
SpiceJet's involvement as the operating partner for the new airline includes supplying crucial staff, services, and industry know-how. This partnership is expected to create synergies, enhancing cost management, revenue, and market presence in India's aviation sector.
SpiceJet's role as the service provider brings substantial revenue expansion opportunities. Leveraging its established infrastructure and operational prowess, SpiceJet can streamline resource allocation and achieve cost efficiencies across maintenance, ground handling, and engineering functions.
The strategically coordinated route planning initiatives are set to boost passenger traffic and ticket sales for both airlines. Through aligning flight schedules and destinations, SpiceJet and the new airline aim to capture a larger market share and effectively cater to diverse passenger needs.
SpiceJet Airlines is undergoing a revival plan, having secured INR 744 crore in the first tranche of capital infusion, with more pending regulatory approval. Additionally, the company is in the process of raising an extra INR 1000 crore. With existing shareholder approval to raise up to INR 2500 crore through QIP, further shareholder consent isn't required.
