Sports Ministry Suspends Paralympic Committee Of India Over Delay In Executive Committee Election

The Sports Ministry has taken the decision to suspend the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) on February 3, citing delays in conducting elections for its executive committee. The move comes after the PCI opted to hold elections on March 28, 2024, despite the existing committee's tenure ending on January 31, 2024.

The Sports Ministry, in a statement, highlighted that the suspension was a result of "procedural irregularities surrounding election scheduling and adherence to regulatory frameworks." Such failure undermines the democratic process and the principles of good governance as mandated under the National Sports Development Code of India," the statement emphasized.
