Ahmedabad to Host Startup Conclave Ahead of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

A startup conclave will be organized in Gandhinagar, India on December 7, 2023, as a precursor to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. The conclave will bring together representatives of unicorns, venture capitalists, and leading businesspersons from across the country, announced Gujarat Minister of Higher and Technical Education Rushikesh Patel on Monday.

Roundtable Discussion on Regulatory Reforms and Tax Incentives

In the run-up to the conclave, a roundtable discussion will be held in the state capital on December 6 in the presence of Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The roundtable meeting and subsequent startup conclave will focus on regulatory reforms, tax incentives, and enhancing the startup ecosystem in terms of compliance to provide a more flexible and conducive environment for startups.

Review of Venture Capital and Private Equity Investment

The discussions during the conclave will include a review of venture capital and private equity investment in India and Gujarat. Additionally, there will be deliberations on challenges related to innovation and research, market access, funding, and financial inclusion.

Networking and Collaboration Opportunities

The event will feature various sessions, masterclasses, and networking opportunities. It aims to foster collaboration across different states to strengthen creativity and the overall startup ecosystem.

India's Startup Growth and Recognition

Since the launch of Startup India on January 16, 2016, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has recognized approximately 99,000 startups, significantly boosting entrepreneurship in the country. As of date, India boasts about 108 unicorns, collectively valued at around USD 340.80 billion. In 2021 alone, there were 44 unicorns with a valuation of approximately USD 93 billion.

Gujarat's Support for Startups and Innovation

To foster and support startup and innovation initiatives within Gujarat, the education department has established a dedicated government entity known as Gujarat Student Startup and Innovation Hub (i-Hub). Operating as a non-profit organization, i-Hub provides resources and support to budding entrepreneurs in the state.

Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled to take place from January 10-12, 2024. The summit aims to bring together global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss and collaborate on various aspects of economic development, with a focus on innovation and sustainable growth.

The startup conclave in Gandhinagar will serve as a platform to showcase the potential of India's startup ecosystem and explore ways to further enhance the environment for entrepreneurs and innovators.
