Stellantis Issues Recall for Over 300,000 Ram Trucks Due to Braking System Defect

Stellantis is recalling over 300,000 Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks due to a defective component that may cause certain braking and tracking systems to malfunction. The automaker, based in the Netherlands, identified the hydraulic control unit as the problematic part. This defect can lead to failures in the anti-lock brake, electronic stability control, and traction control systems. However, regular braking systems remain unaffected, and no related injuries have been reported.

Stellantis Recalls 300,000 Ram Trucks

The recall affects Ram models from 2017 to 2018, specifically the 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 series. In total, 317,630 trucks are included in this recall, with a small number located in Canada, Mexico, and other regions. Stellantis plans to inform affected customers about when they can receive free repairs. For further inquiries or concerns, customers can contact Stellantis at 1-800-853-1403.

Stellantis Faces Multiple Recalls

In recent months, Stellantis has announced several recalls. Last month, the company recalled approximately 207,000 Jeep and Dodge SUVs in the US due to a computer issue that could disable anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control features. Additionally, in September, nearly 1.5 million Ram pickup trucks were recalled globally to address a software problem affecting the electronic stability control system.

Alongside these recalls, Stellantis is dealing with declining sales that have resulted in layoffs and increased inventory at dealerships. The company's net revenues fell by 27% last quarter compared to the same period last year. These challenges come as Stellantis continues to navigate its position as the world's fourth-largest automaker following the merger of PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021.

Leadership Changes Amid Challenges

Last week, Stellantis announced that CEO Carlos Tavares would be stepping down after nearly four years leading the company. This leadership change occurs amid ongoing challenges for Stellantis as it addresses both product recalls and financial difficulties.

Stellantis remains committed to resolving these issues while maintaining customer safety and satisfaction. The company continues to work on improving its products and addressing any defects promptly to ensure reliable vehicle performance for its customers worldwide.
