Stock Market Alert: Nifty Sensex Open Flat; HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Up, Wipro In Focus

Stock Market Today Opening: Nifty and Sensex witnessed a muted opening on Thursday following the global market cues. Wipro, Infosys and other IT stocks remained under pressure ahead of Q4 results. Flat opening of the Indian stock market today was followed by the US stock markets pullback.

Nifty 50 was up by 15 points and opened at 23344 points on Wednesday. Whereas, BSE Sensex surged marginally to open at 76996. Nifty Bank retained its momentum after touching 4-month high mark on Tuesday. Nifty Bank opened in the green at 52690 points.

HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra, and other bank and financial stocks remained strong during the opening session. Tech stocks, including Wipro, Infosys, etc, remained under pressure ahead of Q4FY25 results. Shares of Hindalco and Vedanta also remained in pressure today.

The Indian stock market opening today came after Gift Nify indicated a weak opening of the Nifty and Sensex on Wednesday. A flat opening of the benchmark indices has come a day after the Indian stock market registered a strong rally. Nifty and Sensex outpaced their global peers and recovered most of the losses made after the announcement of United States tariffs by President Donald Trump.

Nifty Outlook For The Day

After a muted opening, Nifty 50 is likely to witness a range bound movement throughout the day. According to Nirmal Bang's Nifty Technical Outlook for today, , Nifty has an immediate support at 23240. If Nifty closes below that, further downside can be expected towards 23170-23100 mark. On the flip side 23400-23500 will act as strong resistance levels.

Commenting on the Indian stock market's stellar rally on Tuesday, Centrum brokerage noted, "The overall breadth was extremely positive with 4,256 shares advancing on the BSE as against 785 declining stocks on Tuesday. All sectors concluded in the green, with Realty and Auto standing out as the top performers. IndusInd Bank, Shriram Finance, L&T, Tata Motors, Axis Bank were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were HUL and ITC. Indian rupee ended 28 paise higher at 85.77 per dollar on Tuesday versus Friday's close of 86.05."

US Stock Market Today Ends Lower Amid Tariff Uncertainty

US stocks ended the last trading session on a weaker note as Trump's tariffs kept investors on edge. Consumer and healthcare companies saw some easing of pressure and results of some major banks brought some optimism among investors, reported news agency Reuters.

Bank of America and Citigroup shares increased on Tuesday, S&P500 was closed nominally lower to 5396.63 on Wednesday. Whereas the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 155.83 points to 40368. Boeing stock declined nearly 2.4% after Bloomberg reported that China has ordered to cease further orders in response to US tariffs.Donald Trump's tariffs announcement on April 2 continues to impact the stock markets despite Trump imposing a 90-day pause on US tariffs last week.

Asian Stock Market Today

Earlier in the day top Asian stock market indices including Nikkei 225, Hang Seng Index, KOSPI Composite Index, etc started Wednesday's session on a lower note.

Wipro Q4 Results Today

Apart from updates related to US-China trade tensions and other economic indicators, domestic stock market investors will be keenly waiting for Wipro Q4 results, set to be announced later in the day. IT giant will announce its quarterly earnings for the fourth quarter, nearly five days after TCS announced lower-than-expected Q4FY 25 results.
The IT firm is likely to be hit by decline in revenue and fall in margins due to deterioration in demand, reported Goodreturns earlier. The company may also benefit from the depreciation value of Indian Rupees. The company will announce tis Q4 results today after Indian stock market's closing today.
