Stock Market Holiday 2026: BSE, NSE Closed For 3 Days From April 14-19: Big Alert On Sensex, Nifty, MCX, F&O

Stock market is going to be closed for three days from April 14 to April 19, due to an extra special holiday for Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti. Apart from BSE and NSE, it will be a settlement holiday for CDSL and NSDL. Commodity market at MCX will be closed, however, not for the full day. Also, F&O trading will be shut.

Stock Market Holiday This Week:

As per BSE and NSE data, trading on stock exchanges will be closed on April 14 due to the celebration of Dr.Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

What Will Be Closed On April 14?

Equity Market: Due to the festival, the equity market will be closed for the full day on April 14, and will resume trading on April 15.

Other Markets: Derivatives, currency, futures & options, and forex-linked instruments will be closed for buying and selling on April 14.

Commodity Market Holiday:

However, commodity market at MCX will be closed for half-day. The daytime session from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm, will not be open on April 14. During that time, there will be no trading in crude oil, natural gas, metals & alloys and precious metals like gold and silver. The trading for evening session which begins after 5:30 pm, will be open as normal for trading.

What Should Investors Do?

According to JM Financial, if you are holding stocks or derivatives, it is a good idea to review your positions before the holiday. Check for margin requirements, stop-loss levels, and any corporate events that may affect your holdings. If you trade actively in commodities, verify whether your exchange follows a morning-only closure or a full-day shutdown.

Further, the brokerage highlighted that long-term investors usually do not need to change much, but they should still be aware of shortened trading weeks because liquidity and volatility can behave differently around holidays. For mutual fund investors, remember that NAV-based transactions also follow market and settlement timelines.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti 2026:
