Stock Market Holiday Next Week: Indian stock markets are likely to witness limited trading activity between May 25 and May 31 due to a holiday-shortened week. Trading across various segments on the NSE and BSE is scheduled to remain suspended next week on Bakrid.

Nifty 50 and Sensex saw highly volatile trading sessions in the previous week. Nifty 50 ended the week 1.5% higher at 23,719 points. Likewise, BSE Sensex ended the trading session 1.55% higher at 75,415 points. For investors and traders planning for the coming week, here are all the details about stock market holidays between May 25 and 31.

Stock Market Holiday Next Week

The Indian stock market is scheduled to remain shut next week on Thursday, May 28, due to Bakrid. Apart from this, BSE and NSE will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, due to the stock market holiday.

Stock Market Holiday on Bakrid

Trading in the equity segment, derivative segment, currency derivative segment, NDS-RST and Tri Party Repo segments, commodity derivatives segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) segment on BSE will remain shut on Thursday, May 28, due to Bakrid. Trading in different segments on NSE will also remain closed on Thursday.

Stock Market Holiday on May 30 and May 31

NSE and BSE trading will remain closed over the weekend, i.e., on Saturday (May 30) and Sunday (May 31).

The Indian stock market saw high volatility in the outgoing week, as investors reacted to geopolitical tensions due to the delay in Iran-US peace talks in West Asia, and continuous Rupee depreciation. Nifty 50 surged during Friday's trading session to cross the 23,800 mark; however, the benchmark index settled at 23,719 points. BSE Sensex also saw a mid-week decline but managed weekly gains.

During Friday's trading session, Nifty Private Bank, Financial Services, Metal, and PSU Bank stocks supported the broader recovery. However, Healthcare, Media, and Pharma counters capped overall gains with bearish movement.

The Indian stock market is scheduled to see a total of seven stock market holidays in the coming weeks in 2026, including the Muharram holiday on June 26, Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti stock market holiday on October 2, Dussehra holiday on October 20, Diwali Balipratipada stock market holiday on November 10, Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev stock market holiday on November 24, and Christmas stock market holiday on December 25.
