Dussehra arrives on October 20, Diwali Balipratipada on November 10, and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24, before the final holiday on Christmas, December 25.
The circular notes one key point for festival watchers: there is no separate trading holiday for Diwali itself because the festival date coincides with a Sunday. Instead, "Muhurat Trading will be conducted on Sunday, November 08, 2026 and the timings of Muhurat Trading will be notified subsequently." The exchanges add that any change to the published holiday calendar will be communicated through another circular issued beforehand.
Stock Market Closing, Monday, April 13
The Indian stock market ended lower on Monday, April 13, as the failure of the Iran-US war peace talks and US' action against Iran left investors cautious about the future outlook. Nifty 50 ended 207 points lower at 23,842 points. Whereas, BSE Sensex was down close to 702 points lower at 76,847 points.
"By the close, the Sensex had declined by 702.68 points, or 0.91%, to settle at 76,847.57, while the Nifty fell 207.95 points, or 0.86%, ending at 23,842.65. Sector-wise, the weakness was widespread, with all major sectors finishing in the red. Nifty Auto, Oil & Gas, and FMCG stocks saw the steepest declines, reflecting the lack of sectoral support during the session. The absence of defensive buying further weighed on the markets, although most sectoral indices managed to recover a significant portion of their intraday losses," noted Bajaj Broking in its commentary.
