Stock Market Holidays 2025 During Diwali Week: BSE & NSE Will be Closed for Dhanteras, Diwali, Muhurat Trading

Festive season is in full swing as one of the major festivals is lined up next week. Trading activity on the stock market will remain closed on these days so investors and traders must prepare well before the upcoming stock market holidays 2025. The BSE and NSE has provided holiday schedules for Dhanteras, Diwali, and Balipratipada so participants can plan their trading activities.

Stock Market Holiday During Diwali Week

This year, the Diwali festival begins on October 18th , with Dhanteras, which is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. As Dhanteras falls on a Saturday, both BSE and NSE will remain closed, along with the regular Sunday holiday on October 19. Regular trading will resume on Monday, October 20th.

The stock market holiday on Diwali will be observed On Tuesday, October 21st the stock exchanges will remain closed for Diwali Laxmi Pujan, one of the most important days of the festival. However, like every year, BSE and NSE will conduct a special one-hour trading session known as 'Muhurat Trading', for traders and investors to carry out symbolic trading during this trading window.

Muhurat Trading 2025: Date and Timings

The Muhurat trading session on Diwali 2025 is scheduled from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm, with the pre-opening session starting at 1:30 pm. This symbolic session will be done to celebrate the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2082, the Hindu New Year. Traditionally, trading during this hour is considered auspicious and is expected to bring prosperity and financial growth.

After Diwali Laxmi Pujan, the next stock market holiday will be seen on Wednesday, October 22, for Balipratipada, as per the official exchange holidays list.

Trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange will also remain closed for two days. As the exchange has announced holidays on October 21 and 22nd.

Upcoming Stock Market Holidays

After the Diwali holidays, traders can note the next stock market holiday in 2025 will be on November 5, on the occasion of Prakash Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The final market holiday of the year will fall on December 25, 2025, for Christmas.
