Stock Market Live Update: Market Ends With Mild Gains; Nifty Ends Above 24,450, Sensex Rises 100 Points

Indian equity markets extended their winning streak for the fourth consecutive session on December 4, driven by robust performance in banking and realty stocks.

The Nifty closed above 24,450, while the Sensex gained 100 points. Leading the gains on the Nifty were HDFC Life, HDFC Bank, Apollo Hospitals, NTPC, and Bajaj Finserv, while Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, and Adani Ports emerged as the top losers.

Sectorally, realty and PSU banks outperformed with gains of 2% each. IT and media indices rose 0.5% each, while auto and FMCG sectors saw a 0.5% decline. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices also posted gains of over 0.5%.

On the currency front, the Indian rupee weakened slightly, closing at 84.73 per dollar compared to the previous day's close of 84.69.
