On Monday, the benchmark indices ended marginally lower after touching fresh highs earlier in the session. The BSE Sensex closed at 85,641.9, down 64.77 points or 0.08 per cent, while the NSE Nifty50 settled at 26,175.75, slipping 27.2 points or 0.1 per cent. Despite the subdued close, the Sensex briefly surged to a record high of 86,159, and the Nifty touched 26,325.8 in early trade.

Given these mixed cues and the flat indication from GIFT Nifty, domestic markets are expected to start the day on a muted note.
