Stock Market Highlights: Sensex Closes 300 Pts Higher, Nifty Reclaims 23,500; Check Top Gainers

Stock Market Highlights: Indian stock market ended Thursday's trading session on a strong note. While, BSE Sensex soared 317.93 points to close at 77606.6 points, Nifty 50 reclaimed the 22,500 mark.

Nifty 50 ended higher at 23,591.95 points on Thursday. Out of all the sectoral indices, Bank PSU emerged as the top performer of the day with shares of Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Union Bank, etc, surging above 4%. Tata Motors and Samvardhana Motherson shares fell on Thursday after United States President Donald Trump announced 25% tariff on cars and auto parts exported from other countries.

Aadhar Housing Finance was also up 5% on Thursday after DAM capital initiated a 'Buy' rating for the infrastructure stock, reported CNBC TV 18. Other shares which surged today were REC, PFC, etc. As per experts,

Nifty and Sensex started Thursday's trading session on a slightly positive note after the benchmark indices, and other sectoral indices were trading in red during the pre-market session.

BSE Sensex opened in green and was trading 250 points higher at 77,541.40 points during early trading session. Meanwhile, Nifty 50 opened at 23,433.95, and was trading nearly 70 points higher thirty minutes later.

Gift Nifty has indicated a weak start of the Indian stock market on Thursday. The Indian stock market indices closed in red on Wednesday, March 26, after snapping seven days of rally. The S&P BSE Sensex closed 0.93% lower at 77,288.50 points. Whereas, NSE's NIFTY 50 Index fell 181 points to close at 23,486.85 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark indices declined amid apprehensions around trade tariffs. NSE and BSE also booked some profit after the stock market witnessed its best gains last week. During Wednesday's trading session, around 2,303 stocks declined out of 2,985 stocks traded.

Amid a sluggish market, foreign institutional investors (FII) turned net buyers for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday. FIIs bought equities worth Rs 5,371.57 crore on a net basis on Wednesday.
