Closing Bell: Bank, Metals, Auto, and FMCG Weigh; Sensex and Nifty Flat

Indian benchmark indices kicked off at new record highs this Tuesday, buoyed by strong cues from Asian markets and heightened expectations for robust Q4 results.

As the market opened, the Sensex showed a rise of 202.26 points, or 0.27%, reaching 74,944.76, while the Nifty surged by 52.70 points, or 0.23%, hitting 22,719.

Out of the 30 stocks listed on the Sensex, 12 were in negative territory, with Reliance Industries, JSW Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Titan, and Kotak Mahindra Bank leading the losses, whereas Infosys, Tata Motors, Wipro, ICICI Bank, and TCS emerged as the top gainers.
