BSE Sensex today ended with the decline of 617 points to 73,885 and Nifty fell by 216 points to 22,488 on May 30, 2024 amid declines in banking and IT sectors. The Nifty Bank index, which had shown strength in recent sessions, emerged as the biggest underperformer on Wednesday. Major banking heavyweights like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank saw notable declines, causing the index to fall below the crucial 49,000 mark. This was a significant drop, especially considering the index had managed to stay above this level earlier in the week even as the broader Nifty struggled.
