Tuesday's trading session saw the Nifty experiencing a rollercoaster, falling to an intraday low of 21,339 before making a spirited recovery, briefly crossing the 21,500 mark in the final hour of trade. However, the absence of support from major index heavyweights, except for Reliance Industries, prevented a sustained breakthrough.

Banking stocks, a significant driver of market movement, failed to provide the necessary impetus in the last two sessions, contributing to the Nifty's struggle around the 21,500 level. The upcoming weekly options expiry session on Wednesday is expected to provide some clarity, especially for the banking index, which could subsequently influence the broader Nifty.
