Closing Bell: Sensex Ends 230 pts Lower, Nifty 50 Settles Below 24,800; Bajaj Finance, ICICI Top Gainers

Stock market ended lower on Wednesday, with the Sensex slipping 219.03 points to close at 81,332.60, while the Nifty 50 declined by 74.30 points to settle at 24,751.90. Among the top gainers on the Nifty were Bajaj Finance, Adani Ports, HCL Technologies, and ICICI Bank, which provided some support to the market. On the flip side, ITC, Indian Bank, UltraTech Cement, and Nestle India emerged as the top losers, weighing down the indices.

Sensex and Nifty opened on a cautious note after Gift Nifty indicated a muted start of the Indian stock market on Wednesday, indicated Gift Nifty. The Indian benchmark indices are likely to remain volatile during the trading session after Tuesday's significant fall.

The Nifty crashed by more than 600 points on Tuesday but recovered its losses later in the day and closed 174 points lower at 24,826 points. Whereas, the Sensex closed 621 points lower at 81551 points. The Indian stock market investors will be keenly waiting for GDP numbers, and closely tracking the last phase of Q4 results.
