Closing Bell: Sensex Ends 312 Pts Down, Nifty Ends Above 25,443 Mark; Steel and Cement Stocks Top Gainers

Stock Market Live Updates: As of 2 PM on Wednesday, stock market were trading in the red with selling pressure. The Nifty 50 was down 140.25 points (0.55%) at 25,401.55, while the Sensex had slipped 448.62 points (0.54%) to 83,248.67.

The Nifty and Sensex are likely to open on a positive note, indicated Gift Nifty on Wednesday. The Indian stock market is likely to follow the cues of Asian Stock Markets, which are trading mix today.

Whereas, the United States stock market ended the previous session with marginal gains. Nifty 50 on Tuesday ended the session 0.10% higher at 25541, whereas BSE Sensex concluded Tuesday's trading session 0.11% higher at 83,697.29 points.

While the Bank and PSU sector stocks remained strong on Tuesday. Apollo Hospital, BEL, Reliance, Asian Paints, SBI Life, Jio Finance, were among the top gainers on Tuesday.

Nifty 50 was down 140.25 points to 25,401.55, while the Sensex had slipped 448.62 points to 83,248.67. The decline was mainly led by financial heavyweights. HDFC Bank was the biggest laggard, dragging the indices down by 112.19 points, followed by Bajaj Finance with a 93.22-point impact, Reliance Industries with 90.16 points, Larsen & Toubro with 63.20 points, and Bajaj Finserv with 59.84 points. On the positive side, cement, metal, and telecom stocks offered some support. UltraTech Cement added 50 points, Tata Steel contributed 39.80 points, while Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, and Asian Paints chipped in with 15.53, 11.23, and 11.04 points respectively.
