Q1 Earnings to Drive Stock Market Today
The ongoing first-quarter earnings season is expected to remain the biggest trigger for Dalal Street this week. Investors will closely monitor earnings reports, management guidance and future business outlooks of major listed companies, which could lead to stock-specific movements across sectors including banking, information technology (IT), automobiles, FMCG, pharmaceuticals and energy.
"Indian equities are expected to witness a gradual uptrend next week, on the back of a strong Q1FY27 earnings season so far, which is likely to remain the key driver of sectoral and stock-specific performance. With several index heavyweights reporting earnings over the weekend, investor focus will remain on management commentary and earnings reactions, which are expected to shape sectoral performance and define the near-term market narrative," said Siddhartha Khemka - Head of Research, Wealth Management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd.
Nifty Prediction Today, July 20, 2026: Check Technical Outlook By Experts
According to Bajaj Broking Research, the Nifty continues to display bullish momentum after ending Friday's session with a strong breakout candle. The benchmark index registered a higher high and higher low, indicating that buyers remain firmly in control and the recent upward trend is intact.
The brokerage believes that the next immediate hurdle for the index is around 24,367. A decisive move above this level could pave the way for further gains towards 24,480 and eventually 24,600, which coincides with the trendline resistance and the high recorded in April 2026.
"Going ahead, bias remain positive and a follow through strength above last week high 24,367 will open upside towards the 24,480 and 24,600 levels being the trendline resistance and high of April 2026, respectively. Failure to move above last week high will signal extension of the recent consolidation in the range of 24,350-23,800," said Bajaj Broking Research.
From a technical perspective, immediate support for the Nifty is placed in the 24,000-23,800 zone. This range coincides with the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and the almost identical lows formed during the past five weeks, making it a crucial support area. As long as the index remains above this range, the overall short-term trend is expected to stay positive.
Bank Nifty Prediction Today
The Bank Nifty also ended Friday's session on a strong footing, forming a bullish candlestick pattern with a higher high and higher low. The index closed near the upper end of its five-week consolidation range, indicating improving momentum in banking stocks.
According to Bajaj Broking Research, Bank Nifty has been consolidating between 56,500 and 58,700 over the past five weeks. A sustained breakout above 58,700 would confirm a fresh upward move and could push the banking index towards 59,300 initially, followed by the psychologically important 60,000 mark.
"Going ahead a move above the June high of 58,700 would confirm a breakout from the ongoing consolidation and could trigger the next leg of the rally towards 59,300 and eventually 60,000 levels in the coming weeks," said the brokerage.
On the downside, the 56,500-57,000 zone remains a strong support area, where the 20-week and 50-week EMAs converge along with the previous week's low. Analysts believe the broader trend in Bank Nifty is likely to remain constructive as long as the index holds above this demand zone.
