Stock Market Will Be Open On This Saturday Of November; NSE To Hold Special Live Trading Sessions; Key Details

Special Live Trading Session: The stock market will be opened on the second Saturday of November 2024, as NSE will be carrying its yet another mock session. The list of special live trading sessions has been announced by NSE in its contingency drill calendar.

What Do We Know So Far?

As per the communication contingency drill calendar of NSE, a special live trading session will be conducted on November 9, 2024. Meaning, that the stock market will be open on this said date which is a Saturday.

This will be the 11th special trading session in 2024 by NSE. The last mock trading session took place on October 5, 2024.

As per the NSE website, the Exchange is continuously endeavouring to provide a robust platform to members so as to enable seamless trading.

Further, NSE added, that the Exchange gives utmost importance to periodical testing of trading infrastructure and its recovery & response mechanisms. Contingency Drills/ Mock Trading sessions are conducted by the Exchange for this purpose from time to time. Large-scale participation of members is quintessential for the success of such sessions.

Timings Of Special Live Trading Session:

On November 9, 2024, traders will be allowed to participate in a contingency drill session between 10:00 hrs to 15:30 hrs IST.

Check live re-login from 18:30 hrs to 19:00 hrs IST, as per NSE.

The mock session will take place in equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and commodity derivatives.

Previous Mock Sessions:

The previous dates of the special trading session in 2024 are September 14, August 3, July 6, June 1, May 4, April 6, March 16, February 3, and January 6.

What Does It Mean?

As per Zerodha, a mock trading session is conducted by the exchange on one Saturday each month. This session allows brokers to test their trading infrastructure, new products/systems, and run contingency drills. Consequently, live ticks appear on Kite on a Saturday.

Further, the brokerage added that holdings or position values are displayed according to the mock-trading prices. This might result in incorrect prices on the Marketwatch and potentially inaccurate positions or holdings values. However, at the end of the session, Friday's closing will be updated.
