Stock Markets End Flat; Nifty Fails To Hold 13200 Levels
After a good start at fresh record highs, indices were largely trading flat towards the end of the trading session. However, broader indices outperformed benchmark indices and on the Nifty Midcap 100, gains to the tune of 0.7 percent were seen. Nifty closed at 13136 while Sensex ended at 44632.65, up 14 points or 0.03 percent.
Top gainers on the Sensex in today's trade have been Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, SBI, Asian Paints and NTPC. While laggards have been HDFC Bank, SBI Life Insurance, TCS, Bharti Airtel.
Bharti Infratel extended gains after Bharti Airtel acquired additional stake in the firm via open market.
HDFC Bank was dragged by as much as 1.7 percent after the
RBI asked the bank to stop onboarding new credit card customers on more outages.
Shares in LKP Finance were locked in 20 percent upper circuit for the second day with only buyers in the counter. The stock is set to delist from the exchanges.
Meanwhile, European indices were trading weak, while US stock futures were trading mixed with gains on the Nasdaq index and S&P, Dow trading with losses.
