The Indian stock market will function as usual on February 1, 2020, despite being Saturday, when the Union Budget for FY21 will be presented.
Stock Markets To Remain Open On Budget Day Despite Being Saturday
On the budget day i.e. February 1, 2020, stock markets will remain open, said a BSE spokesperson.
In its first term, BJP led NDA government took a decision to announce the budget on the first day of February instead of the last working day of the same month. And in line, the Union Budget for the year 2017-18 was announced on February 1 and ever since then the tradition continues. The measure was taken such that after the presentation of budget on February 1, all of the budgetary process is completed by the end of March 31. And beginning the new financial year, expenditure exercise for twelve months may be resumed.
