‘Strengthen India-France Relations’ ‘Cement India-US Friendship’: Agenda for PM Modi’s Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed from Delhi, the national capital, today for a four-day visit to France and the United States, where he will engage in talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and newly sworn-in U.S. President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister shared multiple updates on X.

Modi's first stop is France, where he will participate in the AI Action Summit, an international forum focused on advancements in artificial intelligence. India, as a co-chair of the summit, is expected to play a significant role in shaping discussions on AI governance, ethics, and innovation.

"In France, I will participate in the AI Action Summit, where India is the co-chair. I will also hold discussions with President Emmanuel Macron to further strengthen India-France relations. Additionally, we will travel to Marseille to inaugurate a new Consulate," PM Modi wrote.

Modi's visit to Marseille for the inauguration of a new Indian Consulate underscores the growing engagement between the two nations and aims to provide better services to the Indian diaspora in southern France.
In Washington, D.C., PM Modi is set to meet President Donald Trump and reflected on their previous engagements during Trump's first term.

"In Washington, D.C., I look forward to meeting U.S. President Donald Trump. This visit will further strengthen India-USA friendship and enhance cooperation across various sectors. I fondly recall working with President Trump during his first term and am confident our discussions will build on the progress made then," he posted on X.

The discussions between Modi and Trump are expected to focus on trade, defense partnerships, technology collaboration, and global security issues. The leaders are also likely to explore ways to deepen economic ties, boost investments, and advance cooperation in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. Modi's visit comes at a time when both nations are seeking to enhance their economic and geopolitical collaboration.

Modi has spoken with Trump twice over the phone since his victory last November. He is now set to hold his first official meeting with Trump within a month of his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
