People in India wishing to follow the eclipse will need to rely on official live streams, observatory broadcasts or international coverage from locations within the eclipse path.

Total Solar Eclipse Visibility

The Moon's shadow will pass across several parts of the Northern Hemisphere, offering spectacular views to observers located along the path of totality. The eclipse will cross Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, the North Atlantic and Spain, while a small part of Portugal will also lie close to the path of totality.

Beyond this narrow corridor, a partial solar eclipse is expected to be visible across much of Europe, Canada, parts of the northern United States and north-western Africa.

At the best viewing locations, totality is expected to last for around two minutes and 18 seconds, although the duration will vary depending on the observer's location.

Anyone travelling abroad to witness the eclipse should use certified solar viewing glasses or approved solar filters when observing the Sun during the partial phases. Ordinary sunglasses, smoked glass, mobile phone screens or camera lenses do not provide adequate protection and should never be used for direct solar viewing.

Only observers located within the path of totality may briefly view the Sun without protective filters, and only during the short period when the Sun is completely obscured by the Moon.
