Renewable Energy Giants Set Sights on Vijayapura

Suzlon's Investment Plans

Suzlon, a prominent player in the wind power industry, has ambitious plans to invest a whopping Rs 30,000 crore in Vijayapura. The company's CEO, J P Chalasani, met with Karnataka's Minister for Large and Heavy and Medium Industries, M B Patil, to discuss the investment proposal. Suzlon intends to set up a 5,000 MW wind power plant in the district, capitalizing on Vijayapura's favorable wind power generation potential.

Suzlon already operates wind power plants with capacities of 2,000 MW and 3,000 MW in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, respectively. The company's decision to establish a new unit in Vijayapura reflects its confidence in the region's wind energy potential.

RSOLEC's Solar Panel Manufacturing Unit

RSOLEC, renowned for its production of raw materials used in the manufacturing of solar panels, has also expressed its desire to set up a unit in Vijayapura. The company plans to invest Rs 6,000 crore in the project. During his meeting with RSOLEC's CEO, Milind Kulkarni, Minister Patil discussed the company's requirements, including 100 acres of land, 80 MW of electricity, and 10 MLD of water.

RSOLEC aims to initially invest Rs 2,500 crore to establish a 5,000 MW capacity unit. The company's target is to commence commercial operations by the end of 2025, creating approximately 1,000 jobs. Furthermore, RSOLEC has ambitious plans to scale up its capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030, which would result in over 3,000 job opportunities.

Favorable Location for Renewable Energy

The Minister highlighted that surveys have identified Vijayapura, along with Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, as the most suitable locations for wind power generation in India. This recognition further enhances the attractiveness of Vijayapura for renewable energy investments.

The proposed investments by Suzlon and RSOLEC in Vijayapura, Karnataka, represent a significant step forward in the state's renewable energy journey. These projects not only promise to boost the state's clean energy capacity but also hold immense potential for job creation and economic growth. The government's proactive approach in attracting these investments underscores its commitment to sustainable development and a greener future.
