India created history after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad yesterday.

The total prize money allocated for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 was roughly Rs 112 crore. Team India, i.e., the winning team, received around Rs 27.48 crore, while New Zealand earned at home around Rs 14.65 crore for finishing as runners-up.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) significantly increased the prize pool for the 2026 edition, distributing the money across teams based on their final standings in the tournament. The prize money in 2026 is the highest in the tournament's history, surpassing the 2024 T20 World Cup payout of about Rs 20.3 crore for the champions.
Even teams that did not reach the final also received prize money, with losing semi-finalists earning around Rs 7.24 crore each, Super 8 teams receiving around Rs 3.48 crore each, and group stage teams getting around Rs 2.29 crore each.

Sanju Samson is named Player of the Tournament

India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was named the Player of the Tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 for his outstanding performance. Samson scored 321 runs in five matches.

Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan finished as the highest run-scorer in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 383 runs, registering the highest tally by any batter in a single edition of the tournament.

Top wicket-takers in T20 World Cup 2026

India's bowling unit was also on fire, with Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah finishing as the joint-leading wicket-takers.
