Tamil Nadu: IT Raids On DMK's MK Stalin's Son-In-Law Premises Ahead of Elections

An Income Tax department search is underway at the home of DMK president MK Stalin's son-in-law in Chennai. Since Friday morning, the agency has raided four locations owned by Sabareesan, according to news agency ANI.

This is the second time that DMK leaders have been targeted for tax evasion ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly election on April 6. On the premises is also his Neelangarai home, where he lives with Stalin's daughter Senthamarai.

Last week, the I-T sleuths raided party leader EV Velu's home, colleges, and guest house for two days around the same time Stalin was campaigning for him in Tiruvannamalai.

This comes just four days before the single-phase assembly elections on April 6, and a day after Stalin's son Udhayanidhi blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the deaths of former ministers Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.

As a show of support, DMK leader and supporters gathered at Sabareesan's home. There were inputs on the movement of cash related to the election campaign, according to tax department sources.
