Tamil Nadu Power Cut Tomorrow, Oct 29: 8-Hour Outage in Thanjavur; Check Affected Areas and Timings

People residing in the parts of the Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu will have to plan their Thursday because of the scheduled power cut tomorrow. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has announced maintenance work at two substations, Thirukkanurpatti and Karambayam, on October 29, and supply to the lines they feed will be cut while the work goes on.

Reason Behind Tamil Nadu Power Cut

As per the electricity board, maintenance is being carried out every month at power stations and substations to keep supply running without interruptions. The work includes repairing power lines and replacing worn wires, and it cannot be done on live lines, which is why the shutdown is needed. This is routine upkeep, not a fault.

Power Cut at the Thirukkanurpatti Substation: 9 AM to 5 PM

The longer outage is under the Thirukkanurpatti substation. Supply will be off from 9 AM to 5 PM, a full eight hours. The areas listed include Thirukkanurpatti, Kurungulam, Nagappadaiyanpatti, Sundarambatti, Vagarakottai and Arputhapuram, along with the sugar mill area and several other localities under the substation.

Karambayam Substation: 9 AM to 2 PM

Areas under the Karambayam substation will be without power from 9 AM to 2 PM. These include Karambayam, Kalamangalam, Ambalapatti North, Ambalapattu, Cholagankudikadu, Cholakankarai, Alathur, Chembalur, Alampallam, Thalikottai and Musiri, among other villages. The board says supply will be restored once the work is completed, and it expects that to happen by 2 PM.

What Residents and Shopkeepers Should Do During Power Cut Tomorrow

The board has asked the public, small and micro businesses and shopkeepers to plan their work around the outage. Keep mobile phones, laptops and other devices fully charged before 9 AM. Anyone who uses an electric motor to fill an overhead water tank should do it before the shutdown begins, so the household doesn't run short of water during the day.
