During the process, officials verify existing voters, remove entries of deceased, permanently shifted, or untraceable persons, and include newly eligible voters who will turn 18 years of age by 1 January 2026.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) collected voter information at the household level and cross-checked documents to validate eligibility. Names that failed to meet eligibility criteria were flagged, while first-time voters were added to the rolls. The integrated draft electoral roll is released to allow public scrutiny before the final version is notified.

Once the Chief Electoral Officer's media briefing concludes on 19 December, voters can begin checking their details through online and offline channels. The draft rolls will be available on the Election Commission's Voters' Service Portal, the Tamil Nadu CEO website, and at local polling stations, where booth-wise lists will be displayed.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer's website will also host polling-station-wise PDF files of the draft roll. Physical copies will also be available with Booth Level Officers, including separate lists identifying deceased, shifted, or untraceable voters.

What to do If Your Name is Missing in Tamil Nadu SIR Electoral Roll

If a voter finds their name missing or notices incorrect information, they can submit claims or objections during the Claims and Objections period, which begins on 19 December 2025 and typically runs for about 30 days. Applications must be submitted using the prescribed forms, Form 6 for new enrolment or inclusion of missing names, Form 7 for deletion of ineligible names and Form 8 for corrections to existing entries.

Two passport-size colour photographs are required for new voter registration through Form 6.
