Tata Electronics has paused the production of iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 cases after a fire incident. Despite this, there are enough stocks to meet demand for the next three months, according to sources familiar with the situation. The fire occurred early Saturday at a chemical storage area in Tata's electronics component factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

Apple and Tata Electronics have conducted meetings to assess the situation. However, Tata Electronics has not provided a timeline for when production might resume. Currently, the production halt is indefinite, as per a source knowledgeable about the matter. Tata Electronics is notably the first Indian company selected by Apple to supply iPhone components.
Impact on iPhone Case Supply
The disruption at Tata's facility is not expected to affect the shipment of iPhone cases. Apple has a sufficient stockpile of cases for approximately three months and is also planning to import more cases afterward. The fire incident at Tata Electronics does not seem to impact iPhone shipments from India, another source confirmed.
Tata Electronics anticipates gaining some clarity on resuming production by the end of the first week of October. Despite inquiries, neither Tata Electronics nor Apple has responded with comments regarding the situation.
The incident highlights the importance of contingency planning in supply chains. Apple's proactive measures ensure that their product availability remains unaffected despite unforeseen disruptions. This approach underscores the resilience built into their operations to handle such challenges effectively.
