Tata Group-backed one of the fastest-growing and most admired Technology led Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies in India, Tata Projects has won a massive contract worth $2.75 billion to build Micron Technology's semiconductor plant in Gujarat. The inauguration and testing facility of Micron Company was carried out on September 23 in the presence of Hon'ble Ministers of Center and State.
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel said, "Under the direction of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi, organizing the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gujarat and the policy of 'Ease of Doing Business', Gujarat has become the state of choice for investors from all over the world."

Patel added, "This unit of Micron Company will play an important role in making Gujarat a microchip and semiconductor manufacturing hub by boosting the industrial development of the state."
Meanwhile, Vinayak Pai, MD & CEO, of Tata Projects, stated that this collaboration exemplifies the unwavering commitment of Tata Projects to advancing technology, promoting sustainable development, and contributing considerably to the 'Make in India' initiative.
Through this classic venture, Pai added that the company is not just building a state-of-the-art semiconductor assembly and test plant; we are laying the foundation for India's technological prowess on the global stage.
As per the release, the project includes the design and construction of a first-of-its-kind DRAM and NAND assembly and test facility in India. The first phase will comprise 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space which is scheduled to be operational by late 2024. The project which is spread across a massive 93 acres of land, will be situated in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation(GIDC) area of Chaarodi, Sanand.
The plant will be equipped with LEED Gold Standards of the Green Building Council along with water-saving technologies which will enable a zero-liquid discharge system.
The Tata Group-backed firm plans to use modern construction methods and techniques involving integrated EPC delivery through 4D BIM and hybrid modular accelerated construction.
Also, a dedicated technological platform will be developed to capture the aspects of Engineering, Procurement and Construction enabling predictable delivery, anticipate and mitigate risks.
Micron's Senior Vice President of Global Assembly and Test Operations Gursharan Singh mentioned that they selected Tata Projects to construct their new facility because of their strong track record of delivering high-quality projects on schedule, on budget, and with the highest safety and ethical standards.
Singh believes that this new plant will transform India's semiconductor industry.
This would be Micron's first factory in the country.
Earlier in June, the US chipmaker announced to invest up to $825 million in the new chip assembly and test facility in Gujarat. The company also announced that of the total $2.75 billion for the facility, 50% will be infused by the Indian central government and 20% by the state of Gujarat.
Tata Projects has expertise in providing sustainable solutions in the execution of large and complex urban and industrial infrastructure projects while also demonstrating strong presence in refineries, petrochemical plants.
Meanwhile, Micron is a world leader in innovative memory solutions that transform how the world uses information. For over 40 years, the company has been instrumental to the world's most significant technology advancements, delivering optimal memory and storage systems for a broad range of applications, including automotive, mobile, data center, and client.
