On MondayTata Sons' chief Natarajan Chandrasekaran was appointed Chairman of Air India. This is post Ayci, chairman of Turkish Airlines, refused to take the role to be the compay's CEO and MD.

Last year, India based airline was bought back by the conglomerate Tata group for a $2.4 billion equity and debt transaction in October last year following 69 years of state ownership.
To tackle the financial issues at the debt laden airline, Ayci came out to be the top contender but he declined the offer on March 1. As per sources though the clear reason for his refusal of the offer is not known, reportedly his link with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan resulted in controversy in India once his appointment was announced.
N Chandrasekaran prior to being at the helm of Tata Sons was leading TCS as its chairman.
