Global Skills Challenge: Team India wins five medals in Australia ahead of WorldSkills Shanghai

Team India recorded a strong result at the Global Skills Challenge GSC Australia 2026, winning five medals: three gold, one silver, and one bronze. Gold medallists included Pavan Bhadravati Suresha, Mausam Kumar Giri, and Vishnupriya Sunil. The event offered international benchmarking ahead of the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai.

India’s team posted a strong result at the Global Skills Challenge GSC Australia 2026. Team India won five medals, including three Gold, one silver and one bronze. The outcome was seen as a key step towards the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai later in 2026.

Team India wins five GSC medals

The Global Skills Challenge ran from 23-29 June 2026 and hosted nearly 600 participants. The group included competitors, experts, translators and officials. It involved 16 WorldSkills member nations, with India competing alongside Australia, Austria, China, the US, Japan, France, Korea and others.

Three Indians led the medal list with Gold finishes in separate skill areas. Pavan Bhadravati Suresha from Karnataka won Gold in Additive Manufacturing. Mausam Kumar Giri from Bihar secured Gold in Cloud Computing. Vishnupriya Sunil from Delhi earned Gold in Health and Social Care.

The five-medal tally also included one silver and one bronze for India. The event highlighted India’s wider progress in skill training and competition standards. Officials said the results reflected stronger performance across technical and service-linked disciplines, along with improved readiness for major international meets.

Global Skills Challenge GSC Australia 2026 preparations for WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, Team Indias outstanding haul of 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals at the Global Skills Challenge 2026 is a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the talent, determination and hard work of our Skill Champions, experts, mentors and industry partners. Beyond these remarkable achievements, the competition has provided invaluable exposure to global standards and strengthened our preparations for the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai.

The Indian delegation had 30 members, including 15 competitors and 15 experts. The group represented India across 15 skill categories. These areas covered advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, construction trades, creative industries and service-sector skills, reflecting the wide range of contests at the event.

Organisers said several Indian participants also performed well beyond the medal winners. Competitors used the event to compare their skills with leading young professionals worldwide. The experience offered international exposure and helped participants measure progress against global benchmarks before Shanghai later in 2026.
