The Telangana government and the State Bank of India (SBI) agreed on a mutually acceptable way forward on Saturday. An official release said the bank reviewed alternative land options. SBI had visited the locations suggested by the government on June 23 before accepting the alternative proposals.

Telangana government and SBI row linked to Raidurg land
The dispute centred on a five-acre parcel at Raidurg. Reports said the then Congress government allocated the land to SBI in 2010. The allotment was meant for the bank’s corporate headquarters. SBI did not build the facility, which later became a point of disagreement with the state.
Telangana government and SBI dispute after TGIIC auction move
The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) later auctioned the same land. The auction reportedly fetched more than Rs 200 crore per acre. SBI approached the court against the auction. The bank also secured a stay from the Telangana High Court on TGIIC’s auction proceedings.
After the stay order, reports said the state government threatened to move all its accounts out of SBI. Officials later indicated a softening of positions after the June 22 talks. Saturday’s meeting built on that progress, with both sides agreeing to settle the issue through approvals and legal steps already in motion.
