Telangana central support request covers Hyderabad projects, IIM proposal, and USD 1 trillion goal
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought central support for infrastructure, education, industrial, and connectivity projects tied to the state’s USD 1 trillion economy target by 2034. He reiterated an M-6 Task Force proposal for six growth cities, requested dedicated urban funding, and pressed for an IIM in Hyderabad alongside major road approvals.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A Revanth Reddy submitted a memorandum seeking central support for several projects. The requests covered infrastructure, education, industry and transport links. Telangana is targeting a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034. The memorandum listed funding needs and approvals for major schemes.

A Revanth Reddy also repeated a proposal for an M-6 Task Force. The idea was earlier raised at the 11th Governing Council Meeting of Niti Aayog. That meeting was held under the Prime Minister’s leadership. The task force plan focuses on six economic engines. The cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
M-6 Task Force fund for urban infrastructure
In the memorandum, A Revanth Reddy asked for a dedicated fund of Rs 6 lakh crore. The plan earmarked Rs 1 lakh crore for each of the six cities. The goal was to strengthen urban infrastructure in these centres. Telangana positioned Hyderabad as a key hub in the group. The request linked city upgrades with wider national growth.
Later in the day, A Revanth Reddy met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The discussion focused on important urban development works. The meeting followed the earlier outreach to the Prime Minister. Telangana sought coordination with the Union government on approvals. The focus stayed on mobility and city infrastructure planning.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II and high-speed rail links
On urban mobility, A Revanth Reddy requested approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II. The proposed expansion covers 122.9 km across seven corridors. The estimated cost is Rs 38,595 crore. Telangana proposed it as a joint venture between the Centre and the state. The request was framed as vital for growing commuter demand.
A Revanth Reddy also asked for support for rail connectivity projects around Hyderabad. These included a Regional Ring Rail Project and a Central High-Speed Rail Hub at Shamshabad. The memorandum also sought high-speed rail links from Hyderabad to Chennai. It also listed Bengaluru and Pune as proposed connections.
Regional Ring Road, NH-765 corridor and expressway approvals
On road connectivity, A Revanth Reddy sought faster approvals for major corridors. The requests included the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road Northern and Southern Corridors. Telangana also asked for the Hyderabad-Amaravati-Bandar Port Expressway. Another item was a four-lane elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam. The corridor was proposed on NH-765.
IIM Hyderabad request and education projects
On education, A Revanth Reddy pressed for an Indian Institute of Management IIM in Hyderabad. A Revanth Reddy argued Telangana lacks an IIM despite other top institutes. The list included IIT, IIIT, NALSAR, TIFR and ISB. The state has offered 200 acres of encumbrance-free land. This was stated in a government statement.
A Revanth Reddy also highlighted initiatives tied to the SEEEPC survey. The survey is the Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste Survey SEEEPC. Telangana cited Young India Residential Schools and Young India Skills University. The memorandum also referred to ITI modernisation with Tata Technologies. These were presented as steps towards an AI-ready workforce.
India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and electronics manufacturing cluster
On semiconductors and electronics, A Revanth Reddy requested projects under India Semiconductor Mission 2.0. Telangana also sought sanction of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster EMC 2.0. The cluster was proposed at Future City. The request included grant-in-aid support from New Delhi. Telangana linked the plans with industrial growth goals.
Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and Tummidihatti Barrage talks
A Revanth Reddy demanded early approvals for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. The chief minister also urged the Prime Minister to support talks with Maharashtra. The talks would address the Tummidihatti Barrage. The barrage is a key part of the Dr B R Ambedkar Pranahita-Chevella Project. Telangana presented the issue as needing inter-state coordination.
The memorandum brought together city funding, transport corridors, education proposals and industry plans. Telangana linked these requests to the 2034 target of a USD 1 trillion economy. Meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Manohar Lal Khattar were used to press for approvals. The state also flagged irrigation and inter-state issues for faster resolution.
