Tesla India has registered itself a company entity in India. And in accordance with the RoC site, Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited was incorporated on 8th January 2021 and the registered address is in Lavelle Road, Bengaluru.

Of the newly incorporated entity, Vaibhav Taneja, Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer and David Feinstein, Senior Director, Global Trade and New Markets at Tesla are named as directors. Earlier last month, Elon Musk announced that the company shall begin operations in India in 2021.
Meanwhile, we have been seeing steam in Tata Motors for the past two days on the news that Tesla and Tata Motors will ink an MoU to produce EVs in India using the latter's facilites.
As per the CNBC TV18 report, Karnataka has offered various locations as well solutions to the company for helping them in setting up manufacturing facility in the state. CNBC-TV18 has reported that Tesla is in touch with state governments in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well.
Karnataka government has welcomed the move. "We welcome this move by Tesla to incorporate itself as a company in the state. There is no agreement with the state government yet, discussions will now follow", said a senior official who did not wish to be named.
