Jana Nayagan Release Date: Trouble for the makers of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's final film, fondly known as Thalapathy Vijay, appears far from over as the release date of Jana Nayagan continues to remain uncertain. Amid the ongoing delay, the film's producers have reportedly decided to refund the advance payments received from distributors.

Jana Nayagan's KVN Production, will reportedly take full control of the movie's release as it is planning to refund all film distributors, reported Indian Express. The development has come as the moviemakers await censor board certification for Jana Nayagan movie for its release.

'We Felt It Was Unfair To...' KVN Production, Behind Jana Nayagan

The production house has decided to refund money to the film distributors, Mohan Suprith, business head of KVN Productions confirmed Indian Express SCREEN. He also expressed that it "felt unfair to keep them in loop while the team is waiting for a possible release date."

The decision to issue refund to KVN Productions came after Vijay only as the movie release date still remains uncertain. Initially, Jana Nayagan was supposed to be released on January 9, however, the release was postponed over censor board rating. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had initially given a UA 16+ certificate to the film, but the final clearance was stalled. The development was followed by movie makers approaching to the High Court.

The moviemakers, eventually withdrew their petition and resubmitted the film for review through CBFC's standard process. As the movie review by the Revising Committee is still pending and there is no update on Jana Nayagan release date, fans are eagerly waiting for some information about the same.

Jana Nayagan Expected Release Date

There is no official information about Jana Nayagan's release date. However, various online movie ticket booking platforms are showing June 19 as the expected Jana Nayagan release, as per media report. The movie makers are yet to release any official confirmation about the same.

Thalapathy Vijay's movie failed to receive certification from the CBFC after the board reportedly raised concerns around the visuals that were believed to have hurt religious sentiments and the portrayal of the armed forces.

The dispute reached the courts earlier, when a single bench of the Madras High Court permitted the Central Board of Film Certification to grant a certificate, but that order was later paused by a division bench, and the Supreme Court then chose not to intervene in the ongoing matter.

Following these setbacks, the producers dropped the legal challenge and opted to submit 'Jana Nayagan' again to the CBFC's revising committee for another assessment, a move that extended the delay and kept fans waiting for clarity on when Vijay's film will finally reach theatres or digital platforms.
