The Odyssey Box Office Collection: Christopher Nolan's Biggest Global Opening Ever; India Biz Nears Rs 40 Cr
Christopher Nolan has added another milestone to his illustrious career as The Odyssey opened to exceptional collections across global markets. The mythological epic has registered the highest worldwide opening weekend ever for a Nolan film, outperforming several of his previous blockbusters and reinforcing his reputation as one of Hollywood's biggest theatrical filmmakers.
The film has received a massive response from audiences across North America, Europe, Asia and several other international markets, with premium-format screenings, particularly IMAX, witnessing strong occupancy since release. In India too, the film has started on an impressive note, attracting moviegoers in large numbers during its first two days.
The Odyssey Worldwide Box Office Collection
According to figures reported by The Hollywood Reporter, The Odyssey has earned an estimated $257.8 million worldwide during its opening weekend.

Of the total, North America contributed approximately $125 million, while international markets generated around $132.8 million, indicating that overseas audiences played an equally important role in the film's record-breaking debut.
The opening has now become the biggest global launch of Christopher Nolan's career, surpassing the initial worldwide collections recorded by both Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight Rises.
Industry observers attribute the strong performance to extraordinary advance bookings, packed premium-format screenings and positive audience reactions that encouraged more viewers to book tickets over the opening weekend.
The Odyssey Box Office Collection in India
The film has also delivered one of the strongest starts for a Hollywood release in India this year.
According to early estimates from trade tracker Sacnilk, The Odyssey collected Rs 22 crore (net) on its second day, registering a 26.4% increase over its opening-day earnings of Rs 17.4 crore (net).
With this growth, the film's two-day India net collection has reached approximately Rs 39.4 crore, while its India gross collection stands at around Rs 47.03 crore.
The movie was screened across 8,791 shows nationwide on its second day, reflecting the confidence exhibitors have shown in the film's box office potential.
Why the Film Is Performing So Well
Trade analysts believe the film has benefited from Christopher Nolan's strong fan following as well as the increasing popularity of premium cinema experiences.
Large-format screens such as IMAX have reported exceptionally high occupancy, with several shows selling out well in advance. Since Nolan has consistently designed his films for theatrical viewing, audiences have shown a clear preference for watching The Odyssey on premium screens rather than waiting for its digital release.
Another encouraging sign for exhibitors is the Day 2 growth. Hollywood films often rely heavily on advance bookings during their opening day, but an increase in collections on Saturday suggests that positive word-of-mouth helped attract additional audiences beyond Nolan's loyal fan base.
The strong opening is also expected to benefit India's multiplex industry.
High-profile international releases generally improve weekend occupancy, increase premium-ticket sales and contribute to higher food and beverage revenue for cinema chains. Event films like The Odyssey also allow exhibitors to allocate more screens to premium formats, which generate higher revenue per seat than conventional auditoriums.
If the film maintains momentum through the weekdays, it could emerge as one of Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing releases in India and provide another major boost to multiplex operators during the current quarter.
