This Bengaluru-Based Startup Just Got A Shoutout From Chat-GPT CEO Sam Altman

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, one of the most influential voices in tech and artificial intelligence, is now making headlines for something quite unexpected, a smart crib. On April 13, 2025, Altman took to social media platform X to praise a Bengaluru-based startup, Cradlewise, for its innovative baby crib that's been helping him and his husband Oliver Mulherin care for their newborn.

Sam Altman married his long time partner Oliver Mulherin and welcomed their baby Boy in February 2025. The baby was born prematurely and required a stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Since then the couple are dealing with the challenges of early parenthood. Recently Altman shared a heartfelt post on Twitter saying, "I've never felt such love."

In the same thread, Altman added a product recommendation for fellow new parents: "We bought a lot of silly baby things that we haven't needed... but definitely I recommend a Cradlewise crib and a lot more burp rags than you think you could possibly need."

What is Cradlewise?

Cradlewise is a Bengaluru-based startup founded in 2018 by Radhika and Bharath Patil. The company has developed an AI-powered smart crib designed to monitor and soothe babies automatically, helping them (and their parents) sleep better.

Some of the standout features of this AI crib is the Built-in Baby Monitor & Music System which detects early signs of waking and soothes the baby with gentle bouncing. The design is quite user friendly and is usable up to 24 months. Since this Crib is integrated with smartphone App parents can easily monitor baby's sleep and crib activity from anywhere

The Cradlewise crib is priced at around Rs. 1.5 lakh (USD 1,499), which is definitely a high end premium product in the baby care market. Currently, it is available in the US and select other countries, and demand for the Cradlewise Crib has surged ever since Altman's tweet.

One of the co-founders of Cradlewise Radhika Gahandhi replied to sam Altaman's tweet on twitter saying "Thanks for loving us. The AI god's trust in the smarts means a lot to us."
