In the State Assembly on Thursday (August 19, 2021), Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh announced that it would offer 28% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees. The hike in DA will become applicable from July 1, 2021.
Before that Bihar offered 11% hike in DA to its employees and pensioners. Likewise, HP state government employees as well as pensioners will get a 6% DA hike. Similarly, Gujarat government will also be provided DA arrears of three months to more than 9 lakh state employees as well as pensioners.

For Jammu and Kashmir state government employees, DA hike has been made from 17% to 28%. The Union finance ministry last month issued an order per se for implementing the cabinet decision for hiking central government employees to 28% from July 1.
Also, the Union Cabinet had given a nod to increase DA and DR by 11% for central government staff as well as pensioners from July 1. With this, the new DA rate will be 28%, up from the current 17%. The increase subsumes the additional DA installments that were due in January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021.
