£706 Cr Housing Boost in Tamil Nadu

Foxconn's Contribution to Employment

Foxconn operates two units in Sriperumbudur, employing around 41,000 people. Of these, 35,000 are women. This trend aligns with Tamil Nadu's leading position in women's employment across India, as noted by Stalin. The new housing complex spans 20 acres and includes 13 blocks, each with ten floors.

Stalin stated that this project is the first of its kind in India and will serve as a model for other states. He emphasised the state's commitment to achieving a one trillion dollar economy by 2030. To this end, various measures are being implemented to make Tamil Nadu the leading state in industrial development in South Asia.

State's Economic Ambitions

The Chief Minister also mentioned that Tamil Nadu has retained its status as India's second-largest economy. The government is focused on enhancing industrial growth to reach its ambitious economic goals. This new facility is part of these broader efforts.

Earlier, state Industries Minister T R B Rajaa welcomed Young Liu at the airport and personally drove him to the new housing complex for the inauguration. This gesture underscored the importance of the event and the collaboration between the state government and Foxconn.

This industrial housing project is expected to set a benchmark for similar initiatives across India. It reflects Tamil Nadu's proactive approach to industrial development and women's employment. The state's focus on these areas aims to drive economic growth and improve living standards for its residents.

The new facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park is a significant step towards achieving these goals. It provides modern amenities and living conditions for thousands of employees, contributing to their well-being and productivity.

The Chief Minister's remarks and the inauguration of this facility highlight Tamil Nadu's leadership in industrial development and women's employment. The state continues to set examples for others to follow in these critical areas.
