Top Cryptocurrency News On Dec 12, 2021: Most Top Crypto In Red; Cardano Up 3%

As per Coinmarketcap.com, the global crypto m-cap is $2.25 trillion, a 0.56 percent gain over the last 24 hours. While the market has recorded a sharp slump in volumes over the last day by as much as 34 percent to $69.45 billion. At the time of writing this copy at around 3:31 pm (IST), bitcoin rose by a tad 0.63 percent to quote at $48.87K. This is even as The Coindesk 20-the core group of 20 cryptocurrencies as collated by Coindesk- that primarily constitutes 99 percent of the market by volume at eight of the leading and most trusted exchanges traded in the red.

The biggest decline today was seen on the EOS crypto of over 4 percent and of the 5 cryptos among the set that traded in the green, Cardano (ADA) saw most gains of over 3 percent and traded at $1.32.

PM Modi's twitter handle sends wrong messages saying ' India officially adopts Bitcoin as legal tender'

Besides the Prime Minister's Office tweet on December 12 regarding PM Modi's Twitter handle being compromised is related to cryptocurrency. Notably though his twitter handle PM @narendramodi has been secured upon escalation of the matter to Twitter, during the brief period for which the account was compromised a tweet has been wrongly posted which said " India has officially adopted Bitcoin as Legal Tender. The government has officially bought 500 BTC and is distributing them to all the residents of the country".

Notably also last year in September, PM Modi's twitter account was hacked and messages supporting cryptos were tweeted.
