If you travel by train frequently then this news piece needs your kind attention. For the passenger trains which are gradually coming into operations after corona led suspension, fares have been hiked. So, for these passenger trains which are currently running as special trains, travelers will have to incur cost at par with fares for express trains.
And the reason cited for this is that this has been done in order to discourage people from making unnecessary travel in view of the rising cases of coronavirus. Currently, as many as 12000 passenger trains are operational in the country. And via these passenger trains around 2.5 crore people travel.
On Wednesday, 35 passenger trains resumed operations. In the time of the pandemic, only special trains were being run.
